FAQs
What is Ballroom Dance?
Ballroom Dance, also known as Standard in DanceSport, includes five elegant and timeless dances: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, and Viennese Waltz. These dances focus on posture, connection, musicality, and graceful movement, combining athleticism with artistry.
What is Latin American Dance?
Latin American Dance in DanceSport consists of five energetic and expressive dances: Cha Cha, Samba, Rumba, Jive, and Paso Doble. Latin dancing develops rhythm, confidence, coordination, fitness, and performance skills while bringing excitement and personality to the dance floor.
Can I try a class before enrolling?
Yes. We offer a trial class for new students so you can experience the atmosphere, meet the teachers, and see if our classes are the right fit for you.
What age groups do you teach?
We offer classes for both children and adults of all experience levels — from complete beginners to competitive dancers. Children can usually start from 6 years old, while adults are welcome to begin at any age.
Which class is suitable for my child or me?
Class placement depends on age, experience, and skill level. Whether you are looking for a fun social activity, fitness, wedding dance preparation, or competitive training, we are happy to help you find the most suitable class.
Do I need previous dance experience?
Not at all. Many of our students start with no prior dance experience. Our classes are designed to support beginners while also challenging more advanced dancers.
Do I need a partner?
No partner is required. Students can learn individually, and we regularly rotate partners during classes where appropriate. We also offer solo DanceSport training and teacher/student partnerships for examinations and competitions.
Is there a dress code?
There is no strict uniform for beginner students. Comfortable clothing and suitable shoes are perfectly fine to start with. As students progress, we encourage them to use proper dance shoes for better technique, comfort, and safety.
What should I bring to class?
We recommend bringing:
- Comfortable clothing
- Dance shoes (if you have them)
- A water bottle
Students attending advanced training sessions may also require activewear, running shoes, exercise mats, or resistance bands, depending on the class.
Can family members or parents watch the classes?
Yes. Parents and family members are welcome to observe classes where appropriate. We kindly ask everyone to respect the learning environment by avoiding interruptions during lessons.
Do you offer private lessons?
Yes. Private lessons are available for both adults and children and can be taken independently or alongside group classes. Private lessons are ideal for faster progress, wedding dance preparation, confidence building, technique improvement, or competition training.
How much do classes cost?
Please reach out to Tatitana to check the price.
How often should I attend classes?
Consistent weekly attendance generally leads to steady improvement. Students who attend additional private lessons, practice sessions, workshops, or holiday programs often progress more quickly. Everyone develops at their own pace, and we focus on creating a supportive and enjoyable learning environment.
What happens if I miss a class?
We understand that students may occasionally miss classes due to illness, work, school, or other commitments. Where possible, please notify us at least 2 hours before the scheduled class.
We will do our best to arrange a makeup class during the same month.
Will I need costumes or competition wear?
Special costumes are not required for regular classes. Students who choose to participate in competitions may eventually require competition attire in accordance with DanceSport Australia regulations appropriate for their age and level.
Do I need to learn both Ballroom and Latin?
At beginner and intermediate levels, many classes include both Ballroom and Latin styles, and we highly recommend learning both disciplines for balanced development. Advanced students may choose to specialise in one style or continue training in both.
Can adults and children compete?
Yes. We support students who wish to participate in DanceSport competitions, performances and showcases. Competitions are available for all ages and levels, from beginners through to elite dancers. Students are encouraged to begin competing once they feel confident and prepared.
