Canberra Dance Academy
Step into the world of elegance, artistry, and connection
Canberra Dance Academy was founded by Tatiana Balan, whose passion for dance began in a small Ukrainian village and continued through her upbringing in Transnistria, Moldova.
From an early age, Tatiana explored a wide range of dance styles, including Moldovan folk dance, hip-hop, breakdance, and ballroom dancing. Her love for teaching emerged early as well — while still in high school, she opened her first dance school in Transnistria.
Later, while studying at university in Moscow, Tatiana met her future husband and dance partner. Together, they dedicated themselves to ballroom dancing and eventually moved to Australia, where they established Canberra Dance Academy.
Today, Tatiana specialises in teaching Ballroom Latin dance, helping students of all ages discover confidence, elegance, discipline, and joy through movement. She believes dance is far more than learning steps — it is a powerful form of self-expression, human connection, and emotional wellbeing.
For Tatiana, dance offers a rare moment to disconnect from daily stress, strengthen both body and mind, and experience genuine happiness within a supportive and inspiring community of like-minded people.
